“ Adopt responsibility for your own well-being, try to put your family together, try to serve your community, try to seek for eternal truth... That's the sort of thing that can ground you in your life, enough so that you can withstand the difficulty of life. ”
- Jordan Peterson
Damian is a deeply patriotic Canadian who feels tremendously fortunate to be living in Vancouver Granville, perhaps the most beautiful neighborhood in the world! He shares, with so many Canadians, a vision for Canada that combines our kindness and welcoming sense of community with rugged individualism, nostalgia and pride for our past achievements, learning from our past mistakes and positioning Canada for a strong, successful future. Damian is confident that the People's Party of Canada can achieve this vision, while establishment parties will always fall short.
Damian’s intrepid spirit has rewarded him with opportunities to travel, live and work in many regions of the country, developing a greater appreciation for indigenous, immigrant and French Canadian cultures. After graduating from UBC in 2007 (B.Sc.), he worked in Metro Vancouver as a software engineer for several years before returning to university to earn his master’s degree in computer science from the University of New Brunswick in 2014. While at UNB, Damian completed his thesis based on an optimization project to minimize peak power consumption costs at a wood processing facility. Since then, he has worked as a technical consultant for a content management and web development firm. Certainly not a typical “politician” and most certainly not a fan of political correctness, it took a lot for Damian to decide to run for office. But with our country slipping into chaos and financial irresponsibility, he felt the need to step up.
His personal beliefs dictate an obligation to help those in need, with a strong preference for individual efforts and grassroots organizations (such as religious communities and charities), as opposed to ineffective government organizations. He is a strong believer in the famous JFK quote: "Ask not what your country can do for you – ask what you can do for your country." As a former lymphoma patient and friend/relative of people with more severe forms of cancer, Damian has experienced first hand the pros and cons of both the Canadian and US healthcare systems. These experiences, among others, have inspired Damian to volunteer and contribute to many initiatives over the past decade, including:
Damian joined the PPC as a founding member in 2018 because he believes in Maxime Bernier and the PPC’s stance on the economy, immigration, indigenous affairs and Canadian identity. But really, it all comes down to freedom. The PPC offers the most, by far, to promote and preserve freedom in Canada, through policies aimed at:
In Vancouver Granville, because we are fortunate to live in such a beautiful, thriving neighborhood, many are happy with the status quo and many have fallen asleep to serious issues affecting Canada as a whole. Damian’s goal is to preserve the prosperity we already enjoy, while further improving our electoral district (in areas such as housing affordability/bubbles) and addressing a myriad of wider issues across Canada.
With so much more charisma and frankly much better ideas, Canada is far better off with a leader like Maxime Bernier. Instead of working as a drama teacher and bouncer, prancing around in blackface and groping women (like our current prime minister), Maxime was busy earning his degrees in business and law, followed by a successful career in finance before becoming Executive Vice-President of the Montreal Economic Institute in 2005. After getting into politics and getting elected as MP of the riding of Beauce, Maxime served our country as Minister of Industry, then Minister of Foreign Affairs, then Minister of State for Small Business and Tourism.
